hello
internet world welcome to a this is my review of the star techusbc multi-port
adapter this supports4k hdmi it's also got vgasd so memory card slots on here
as welland100 watt power delivery this is the product packaging the part number
is thedkt30chva usp let's take a look at the product itself this is what it
looks like it's a really cool product very very well made i've been so pleased
with how this has been performing because it is a multi-port adapter and it
just proves its worth because of the variety of ports that are on here now it
has got a captive cable on it this is terminated with a usbc connector of
course you can plug this into a thunderbolt port as well because thunderbolt is
backwards compatible with usbc this is usbc though not thunderbolt 3.so do bear
that in mind but a captive cable a fairly short length probably around about
would say about 30 centimetres inlength very very nice metal casing to the
adapter a nice curve to it as well
you
can see actually if i show you this profile is in fact curved at the back and a
slight taper to the front as well we have got gigabit ethernet on here with
some led lights which gives you feed back as to the speed of the connection
you've got we've also got the vga d sub connector here for connecting to older
monitors and then if we look on this side this is where we've got all of the
other ports really nice array of ports here we have gota hdmi port which
supports up to 4kresolutionwe've got two usb 3 ports we've got the sd card slot
so memory card reader we've also got another usbc port here this provides a
hundred watts of power delivery very very important so that what that means
basically is if you've got this plugged into your laptop you've still got
access to usbcvia
This
through port as well and you're able to charge your laptop if there's only one
usbc connector on it the sd card slot works very well nice fast transfer speeds
i've been using that a loti own a 13-inch macbook pro the one with the touch
bar and of course as we all know applere moved the memory card slots on all of
their latest laptops and indeed a lot of these new erultra books don'thave
memory card slots on them so the fact we've got an sd card slot very very
useful indeed two usb three ports as well so nice fast data transfer via these
again very useful for if you need to connect peripherals to your laptop and
again a good example of this is my mac book pro has only gotth under bolt 3 or
usbc compatible ports on it it's got no legacy usb a ports so these are very
useful as well hdmi for connecting to an external display something i
personally don't use on my macbook properly because i connect to a usbc monitor
but not all monitors are usbc and indeed if you're doing
a
presentation perhaps to a projector or a large screen tv on your ultra book or
your apple macbook pro then you might need access to hdmi andthis gives you
that hdmi porton this end just to recap the vgasub poor again something i don't
personally use but if you need to connect to an older monitor that could prove very
useful and again another very good example uh using my macbook pro as an
example there's no ethernet port on my macbook pro this gives me access to one
gigabit ethernet that is very very useful indeed and indeed that applies to a
lot of ultra books which don't have ethernet ports on them we all rely on
wireless connections nowadays but wired ethernet is definitely the way to go
especially
If
you don't want to risk having any sort of wireless connectivity issues while
you're doing something like a presentation so overall a really good
multi-portadapter this is from star tech and i can certainly highly recommend
it if you enjoyed this article please do hit that like button if you want to
pick up this product for yourself there are links in the video description to
both where you can purchase this.
